SSA'16 offers a limited number of student grants consisting of a free registration to the summer school (accommodation and travel costs cannot be reimbursed).
To be eligible for receiving a grant you must:
- be registered as a full-time student at a higher education institution (e.g. university) and
- have an accepted abstract for the student session.
Applicants have to submit a formal letter giving proof of their eligibility for the grant, motivate their interest in attending the summer school, and provide an explanation why other sources of funding (by local institutions) are not available or inadequate (maximally 1 page). The letter should also mentioned the advisor of the student and a statement that she/he supports this application (no additional letter of support is required).
Conditions for receiving a grant are eligibility and convincing evidence that funding is required. Furthermore, applications by students from underrepresented regions will be preferred.
The deadline for submitting the application letter is 20th July, 2016. To submit your letter, write an e-mail to Matthias Thimm with the title "SSA2016 Grant Application" and include your letter as a PDF file. We will send you the decision on your application shortly after. Students whose application have been rejected will be offered registration under the early-bird deadline (350€ instead of 500€), but the window for making use of this option will be short.
